Every action has a reaction There is a force, that generates when an object interacts with another object. Forces result from interactions, they are self originating. For example when you sit on a chair your body puts a downward force on the chair and then the chair puts an upward force on your body. The very force you put on chair and the force on your body, are known as action and reaction forces. These two forces are explained by Newton in his third law formerly stated as For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The above statement means that in every interaction there is a pair of forces acting on the interacting objects. And the important thing is that the size of the forces of action and reaction on each of the objects are same. The direction of these forces are also opposite to one another. Let us understand this concept with one more example: Flying birds in the sky fascinate us a lot and we wonder how these tiny creature fly so effortlessly and peacefully, well there is a lot of science involved in this and mostly the credit goes to the action and reaction pair of forces. The bird pushes air downward with its wings that is an action and a force exerted by bird in return the air pushes the upward, this is a reaction with the same force but in opposite direction.
