Life For Our Parents & Grandparents
During the industrial age, when our parents and grandparents entered the workforce, there was a certain plan that they had to follow to become successful. That plan was to go to school, graduate from a good college or university, enter the workforce, begin to work their way up a corporate latter, save up, retire, and enjoy the remaining 20 years of our lives freely.
At that point in time, that was a great deal because, before that generation, most people were farmers who had to work every day just to eat and survive. Even in this era, taking the traditional route laid out by our elders is not necessarily a bad idea. It provides long-term security, a consistent income, and is still highly sought after by many aspiring people seeking a better life. However, with that being said, the pendulum has finally shifted as we are now living in the information age.
How It Works Now
Due to the explosion of the internet, we can now transfer information at incredible speeds, and guess what? People are willing to pay for it.
If you want to start any kind of business, you can. Nobody can stop you and all the resources that you need are available for either cheap or free. Take this blog as an example, it started with nothing more than two friends interested in sharing their knowledge and research in the self-help industry. Over the course of 8 months, they watched their blog blossom into a full-fledged company that is now generating an income due to the value they provide!
Was it easy? Absolutely not. We are not saying that the road to success is going to be easy but what we are saying is that you do not necessarily have to go from Point A to Point B in order to get to Point C. You can now cut out the middle man and begin doing whatever it is that you want to do.
For example, if you are a great photographer, you don’t have to work for a large company to attract clients to get paid. You can now do it by yourself.
Here’s one way of doing it:
- Set up a website (WordPress, Shopify, Wix are all great places to start)
- Start posting on different social media platforms
- Post on Kijiji, Craigslist, etc
- Consistently give away free content as much as possible (this will create trust between you and your potential clients)
Whatever it is that you choose to pursue, the resources and tools that you need to do it by yourself are fully available to you.
