How to Surpass Plateaus in Bodybuilding & Fitness
The most rewarding part of taking control of your physical health is seeing the results. When you first begin working out, the results will seem astronomical! You will look in the mirror and think to yourself, “Wow! If I keep this up, I’ll be looking great in no time!”
But then, after a few more months you start to hit a ceiling. This is the point where your workouts begin to feel mutinous, your results are stagnant, and the joy of working out isn’t as fun as it used to be.
This is called the plateau!
Good news for you is that there are ways to surpass the plateau. A plateau is a mental and physical barrier that every bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast goes through. It is a natural part of the process.
What’s even better is that when you break through the plateau, you will level up to the next phase of your fitness journey. There are certain things that you need to do in order to break through a plateau.
Here are the 4 ways on how you can break through a plateau:
- Switch Up Your Diet Plan
Over time you will begin to realize how your body reacts to certain kinds of food. Do some research as to what area of your nutrition you may be lacking in. Start meal prepping accordingly.
- Change the Music You Listen To At The Gym
Sounds unusual, right? But it works! The human brain tries to form habits so that it gets to work less and operate on auto-pilot more. When you change up your music, you are able to get into a new groove and set your brain back into action!
- Take a Short Break From The Gym
Sometimes spending too much time in the gym and going through the motion can be disadvantageous towards success of the body. By taking some time off from the gym, you allow your mind and body to reset. That way, when you come back to the gym, you can come in with a clear head and begin to conquer once again.
- Create An Entirely Different Workout Routine
Your muscles can get used to your workouts too! If you go to the gym and continue to do the same workouts over and over again, they start to become ineffective. Your muscles develop resistance against the same workouts. This is why muscle confusion is one of the most effective methods of muscle growth. In the future, try a new workout regimen every 3-4 weeks. For more exercise tips, check out this pre-workout guide.
