Interview: Christoff J. Weihman — From Hospitality to Speaking Empowerment
Christoff J. Weihman is a coach and motivational speaker whose career reflects resilience, service, and a strong commitment to helping others grow. He has spent decades working in two worlds. In hospitality, he became a master trainer in five-star service. In the speaking arena, he now empowers leaders to communicate with confidence and authenticity. His journey has taken him from learning under mentors like Wolfgang Puck to creating the Standing Ovation programs that transform aspiring speakers into effective and inspiring communicators.
Coaching as a life mission
For Christoff, coaching grew out of his lived experiences in service and communication. His early career in hospitality revealed the power of high standards and human connection, while his personal struggles with self-doubt led him to discover his true gift, helping others believe in their worth. The turning point came at a gala in Newport Beach, where, despite being honored, he felt out of place until his wife Michelle encouraged him with three words: “Know your worth.” That moment gave him the courage to launch his first speaker coaching program and confirmed that his calling was to help others uncover their greatness.
His philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone carries unique gifts, often hidden beneath fear or limiting beliefs. Through his work, he creates spaces where clients can rediscover their confidence, embrace their authenticity, and step fully into their purpose.
A path of resilience and reinvention
Resilience has shaped Christoff’s journey. He spent more than eleven years in the Philippines with a mission organization. That experience gave him a deep commitment to service. After returning to the U.S., he entered the hospitality industry, where he realized that service excellence could be a vocation. At the same time, he pursued acting and stand-up comedy in Los Angeles. Performing in plays and at comedy clubs strengthened his skills in presence and communication.
Life brought serious challenges as well. After the death of his father, Christoff lost his job and fell behind on rent. He experienced homelessness for six months in Los Angeles. Even in that season, he kept feeding his mind with the teachings of Les Brown and Tony Robbins. Those months built empathy and resilience and gave him a desire to support nonprofits. They also shaped the kind of coach he is today. If you would like to connect with Christoff and follow more of his work, we invite you to visit his LinkedIn profile.
Standing Ovation: building confident communicators
Through his Standing Ovation programs, Christoff helps participants move beyond polished delivery to become speakers who connect on a human level. Using his Crafting an Impactful Message Template, clients learn to shape their talks into experiences that inspire and move audiences. Small group settings, weekly practice, and detailed personal feedback create an environment where growth happens quickly and authentically.
Participants also explore tools such as the Connection Zone and the SuperHero Persona, designed to help them step into their most powerful and authentic selves on stage. For Christoff, transformation comes when mindset, message, and mission align, confidence, clarity, and conviction working together to help clients share their gifts with the world.
The importance of continuous growth
Christoff is convinced that great coaches must also be lifelong learners. He invests in his own development through reading, attending programs, joining summits as a participant, and embracing new technologies like AI to broaden his skills. For him, learning is not optional, it is a responsibility.
He compares it to hospitality, reminding restaurant owners that their customers deserve to be served by people at their very best. In the same way, he insists that coaching clients deserve mentors who are always evolving. This dedication ensures that his coaching remains relevant, impactful, and worthy of the trust his clients place in him.
A final message to our readers
Christoff reminds us that each of us has gifts and talents meant to be shared. Too often, fear or doubt convinces people to hold back, waiting until they feel ready. His advice is clear: “Ready is not a feeling, it’s a choice.”
He encourages aspiring leaders and speakers to take that first step, to act with courage, and to trust that transformation happens through action. “The world needs your gifts,” he says, “and someone is waiting for the message only you can bring.”
Today, he continues to inspire audiences worldwide and has been nominated for Best Motivational Speaker in Nevada at the 37th Silver State Awards. You can support his nomination here.
