Interview: Anna Alvarez Boyd — Driving Executive Transformation with Expertise
Anna Alvarez Boyd, is an accomplished Executive Leadership Coach, Author, and Entrepreneur, consistently recognized as a Top Coach in Orlando by Influence Digest in 2021, 2023, and 2024. We profile Anna to explore her journey from federal service to her current role as a strategic partner for leaders navigating complex organizational change and accelerating their success.
The Foundation: From Federal Service to Formal Coaching
Anna’s coaching journey grew organically out of a long career in federal leadership, where supporting, mentoring, and developing emerging leaders became the most meaningful parts of her work. During her tenure at the Federal Reserve Board, she found herself drawn to helping colleagues navigate complexity and uncertainty—often during moments when the stakes were high and clarity was needed most. That experience was what inspired her to pursue formal coach training and subsequently earn her PCC credential.
Anna’s coaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that every person has an innate wisdom that becomes more powerful when they have space for thoughtful reflection. She helps clients clarify and build on their unique strengths, deepen their awareness of their goals and values, and develop a greater sense of clarity, confidence, and purpose. For Anna, coaching is a leadership accelerator—an avenue through which individuals can unlock capacity and move toward more intentional, values-aligned action.
A Journey Shaped by High-Stakes Complexity
Anna’s professional journey began in public service, focusing on community development, financial inclusion, and ensuring that policy decisions reflected the lived experiences of households and communities. Across roles at the OCC, Fannie Mae, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, and ultimately as Senior Associate Director at the Federal Reserve Board, she led teams through times of change, crisis response, and strategic realignment. Those years taught her how essential it is to lead with empathy and clarity when environments are uncertain.
At the Federal Reserve, Anna designed the Community Advisory Council, co-chaired systemwide committees, and advanced research that helped bring the public voice into federal policy conversations, including the establishment of the Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking (SHED). These experiences deepened her understanding of organizational behavior, adaptive leadership, and the power of inquiry. In 2020, she co-founded FairWays to Leadership, a nonprofit that uses golf as a classroom for leadership, further demonstrating her commitment to expanding access to leadership tools for emerging talent. All of these experiences inform her coaching today, as she works with leaders across federal agencies, financial institutions, nonprofits, and academia.
The Three Pillars of Executive Transformation
Anna’s coaching program integrates three core elements designed to help clients achieve meaningful outcomes:
- Strengths-Based Development: Clients begin by identifying and sharpening the strengths and values that drive their leadership, creating a strong foundation for growth.
- Reflective Awareness & Leadership Presence: Anna helps clients develop deeper insight into their impact, their patterns, and the leadership identity they want to embody. This often includes tools such as the Leadership Circle Profile, EQ-i 2.0, and Working Genius.
- Strategy, Alignment & Decision-Making: Leaders learn to navigate competing pressures, lead through change, build alignment on their teams, and create clarity around goals and outcomes.
Anna’s role is to create a supportive environment that fosters insight, accountability, and forward movement. Clients consistently report gaining more confidence, sharper clarity, improved communication, and a renewed sense of purpose in their leadership.
A Commitment to Continuous Growth
Coaching is a profession rooted in curiosity, humility, and continuous growth. Anna believes that because leaders, workplaces, and the challenges people face evolve, coaches must evolve as well. Her own commitment to ongoing learning has included advanced training in the neuroscience of change, certification in leadership assessments, and participation in leadership development initiatives across the Federal Reserve System. This continuous education strengthens both the technical side of coaching and the human side—helping coaches stay grounded, attuned, and capable of supporting a wide range of clients and contexts.
Strengthening the Internal Compass
Anna’s final message for readers is that leadership is ultimately an inner journey. She stresses that while titles and roles matter, the most powerful leaders are those who can stay grounded in who they are, what they value, and the impact they want to create.
“Every leader has an internal compass—your ability to listen to it, trust it, and act on it determines your path. Coaching helps you strengthen that compass so you can lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose.”
