Interview: Christoff J. Weihman – Empowering Heart-Centered Leaders to Turn Their Message Into Impact

Most people who struggle to speak in public assume the problem is a skills gap. The wrong slides, the wrong structure, not enough rehearsal. Christoff J. Weihman has built an entire coaching practice around a different idea. The real block is almost never skill. It’s the internal story about whether the message matters.

From Mission Work in the Philippines to High-Level Hospitality and Events

Christoff’s path into coaching didn’t start in a classroom, and it didn’t start with public speaking either. At nineteen, he left home to serve overseas with a volunteer mission organization, spending more than a decade across the Pacific and Asia, most of it in the Philippines, where he learned to read, write, and speak two of the local languages. It was an experience built almost entirely around service to others, long before he ever thought about coaching for a living.

From there he moved to Los Angeles, where he spent years pursuing acting, screenwriting, and stand-up comedy. Few of his current clients know that chapter of his story, but he credits it with teaching him how to read a room and hold an audience’s attention, skills that later became central to his coaching work. That period eventually carried him into high-level hospitality and events, where he spent years training service teams and helping organizations elevate the experience they created for their customers. It produced his first two books, Getting to WOW! and The Customer Experience, both built around what he calls Five Star Customer Service, the idea that every interaction a company has with a customer is an opportunity to either build loyalty or quietly lose it.

Mindset, Message, Mission

Over time, Christoff’s focus shifted from customer experience toward something closer to his own history: empowering people to discover and uncover their message and turn their knowledge, expertise, passion, and purpose into a message that creates connection and impact. He now works primarily as a Speaker Empowerment Coach, and his approach rests on three pillars, Mindset, Message, and Mission, always worked through in that order. Before a client touches their slides or their delivery, he spends time on the internal story usually running underneath their fear of the stage.

For Christoff, self-doubt isn’t a distraction from the real coaching work, it is the coaching work. His job isn’t to teach someone to perform confidence they don’t feel. It’s to help them uncover a message they already believe, somewhere underneath the doubt, is worth delivering. Once that shift happens, he says the technical parts of speaking, structure, pacing, stage presence, become far easier to teach.

That philosophy is built into Standing Ovation Signature, his eight-week coaching experience, giving speakers a structured path through Mindset, Message, and Mission rather than one-off advice. Readers can learn more at StandingOvationBlueprint.com.

Building a Stage for Speakers

That philosophy eventually grew into something bigger than one-on-one coaching. Christoff founded the Ultimate Speaker Competition, an event built to give emerging speakers a real stage in front of a live audience, rather than another Zoom call, along with the event producers and planners who are actively looking to book new talent. Competitors choose the category that fits them best, Inspirer, Expert, or Storyteller, and move through several rounds judged on a combination of expert feedback and audience vote.

The most recent event ran in Las Vegas in late August 2026. By Christoff’s account, it has become less of a one-time competition and more of an ongoing community. Participants leave with professional photos and video for their speaker kit, feedback from a panel of judges, and a network of collaborators, sponsors, and fellow speakers that keeps working for them well after the event itself is over. His wife, Michelle Renee Weihman, a longtime registered nurse and healthcare speaker, runs the event alongside him.

Learning From Mentors, Then Becoming One

Christoff has learned from exceptional mentors throughout his journey, including Les Brown, Dave VanHoose, and Bill Walsh. Their influence shows up directly in the programs he has built, including Engage the Stage and Standing Ovation Speaker Coaching, and in the mentoring he now offers to other coaches and speakers building their own practices.

Alongside that, he holds firmly to the belief that we never stop learning, developing, and refining our craft. For Christoff, staying sharp isn’t optional maintenance, it’s part of the responsibility that comes with coaching people who are trusting him with something as personal as their voice.

A Practice Built Around Connection

Christoff J. Weihman is a Speaker Empowerment Coach and event producer who also continues to equip leaders and teams through five-star customer experience and hospitality training. These areas of his work are connected by a commitment to communication, human connection, and creating meaningful impact.

You Have Greatness Within You

Christoff’s closing message shows up consistently across his coaching, his recent appearance on Speak Up TV Season 5, in the episode “Unleash Your Inner Superpowers,” and his own bio. Greatness, in his view, isn’t something a speaker has to manufacture from nothing. It’s already there, usually buried under fear, self-doubt, or years of playing it safe. As he puts it, greatness is already inside us, waiting to flow through us and shine. Coaching is largely the work of uncovering it rather than building it from scratch.

That belief is at the heart of his signature message: Our Highest Calling is to use our GIFTS in Service to Others. The World is Waiting for YOU to Heed the Call.

Your message matters, and somebody out there needs to hear it in your voice, not a polished imitation of someone else’s. It’s a message he says applies just as much to business leaders trying to connect with a room as it does to first-time speakers stepping on stage for the first time.
