How to Move a Treadmill Upstairs

If you are one of the few people who use the treadmill with the same motivation as when you buy it, you deserve a standing ovation. Treadmills are an excellent investment if you do not have the time or energy to go to a gym, as they can be used anytime without assistance.

However, the real challenge isn’t using it – it is in moving it.  Even the treadmills that claim to be the lightest in the market weigh hundreds of pounds, and moving them is something you cannot do alone. It needs to be moved from point A to point B very carefully, as even the slightest inconvenience can cause a problem for both the machine and the user.

If you do not want to be screaming “PIVOT” every second while moving the treadmill upstairs, we have listed the most convenient ways of shifting it. Check out the following steps if you want to move your treadmill smoothly!

Check the Manual for Instructions

Every treadmill is designed differently, so before moving yours, it is vital to check the manual for instructions. If you cannot find the manual, Google the name of your treadmill model and try finding a manual.

Make sure to check the weight of the treadmill. This would help you decide if you need to rent a furniture dolly, or you can move it yourself. Also, check if the parts of the treadmill can come off and be assembled later.

Get Help

After checking the manual and deciding a way to do it, get some help. A single person cannot move a treadmill, so you might want to call your friends or neighbors to get some extra help. Make sure to find someone who has some prior experience in handling such heavy objects.

The front part of the treadmill is the heaviest, so it is better to make the most powerful person in the group handle it.

Fold or Dissemble the Treadmill

If your treadmill can be disassembled, it would be easier to carry it upstairs. Some treadmills, such as the Sole F63 treadmill, have a foldable frame and can be folded in half whenever needed. Make sure to lock it when it is folded and carry it upstairs using help. Carry it upstairs with a firm grip.

One step at a time

Do not rush while carrying the treadmill upstairs. Take one step at a time, and do not forget to take a break whenever necessary.

When you have reached upstairs, you can unfold it by merely lowering the running deck to the floor by applying slight pressure. And that’s it!

What is the Perfect Place for a Treadmill?

A lot of people keep moving their treadmill from one room to another because they cannot find a perfect spot for it.

Well, you can position it in your garage if you do not have a separate room in your house dedicated to fitness. Keeping it in the garage would help you take out a little time for yourself away from the hectic family routine. It can also be placed in your basement. In fact, an empty basement can be turned into a small home gym, and setting your treadmill in there can be the first step towards it.

If you have a big living room and like watching TV while working out, you can place it there as well. Remember, it all comes down to preferences!
