Successful Individuals Are Delusional Which Is Why They Succeed

Will Smith once said:

“There is a certain delusional quality that all successful people have to have. You have to believe that something different than what has happened for the last 50 million years can happen. Being realistic is the most commonly travelled road to mediocrity”

From a young age, successful individuals start to notice that they do not think the same as others around them. They begin to see the world in a different way. They envision the possibilities around them and see the world as an ecosystem that they can contribute to.

One of the biggest misunderstood concepts of this generation is the distinction between talent and skill.

Talent: is a trait that is naturally inherited.

Skill:  is developed through hours and hours of working on a craft.

Will Smith once said that he had never viewed himself as particularly talented, but what has given him ability to excel so far in life was his dedicated work ethic. His work ethic has allowed him to develop his skill set to the point where he has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable icons.

Remember: successful individuals in this world realize that dedication to a worthy ideal is more valuable to them than anything else that society can offer.

Successful people are not logical according to societal norms. When Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard to work on their businesses, so many believed that was a terrible idea. At the age of 22, when Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to America from Austria, his family and friends were not supportive. Sometimes in life, successful people have to make choices that may seem delusional to the rest of society and that is okay.

If you are reading this article right now, chances are that you have consciously made an effort to better yourself. Understand that throughout your life you will make decisions that society may label as “risky” or “unorthodox.”

You must ignore the naysayers and maintain this delusional vision that you will be successful no matter what obstacle comes your way. You must believe internally that you were created for a higher purpose than the rest.

So, the next time an average minded individual questions your decisions or calls you delusional, take it as a compliment. It is likely a sign that you are well on your way to achieving your goals and becoming the successful individual that you have always dreamed of being.
